RAIS
has been directly involved in the field of crash training since
1999. Since that time and in association with Mr Andrew Mitton
of Collision Analysis & Reconstruction, Adelaide, SA, a Certificate
IV Course in Road Crash Investigation and Analysis was developed
under the Australian Training Guidelines and received accreditation
from the Training Recognition Council, Queensland on 24 November
2003. This course is now being delivered through AssentTECS, http://www.assenttecs.com.au/.
AssentTECS is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) through which Road Accident Investigation Service Pty Ltd operates its nationally recognised training and assessment services. All Registered Training Providers in Australia operate against quality standards known as the Australian Training Quality Framework (AQTF). These standards are monitored by an external agency which ensures all RTO’s comply with the quality assurance processes expected for the issuing of nationally recognised qualifications.
What are national competency standards about?
Competency standards describe the skills and knowledge required
by a person to operate effectively in the workplace. The standards
have been defined by industry, are nationally recognised and form
the basis of training for that specific industry. Standards contain
descriptors of outcomes to be achieved and criteria for performance.
The following is an overview of the units available
